Janet from Oakham "We've been very impressed by diy-kitchens. Spent a long time planning our refit; started off down the Ikea route but didn't like their new styles, had a couple of quotes from 'proper' showrooms and was both appalled at the price and disappointed with their design ideas, rejected Howdens because I don't like their sales methods, and then stumbled across diy-kitchens via a Google search. Seemed to be just what we were looking for - wide variety of styles, comprehensive range of units and sizes, and the ability to select everything ourselves thereby ensuring that we actually got what we wanted. Oh, and very reasonably priced ! Visited the showroom and was equally impressed; more displays than any other showroom I'd been to, the opportunity to see the construction and fittings, and staff who were both friendly and knowledgeable.
Went home, did the final plan, had a few queries which were answered by a quick phone call, did another showroom visit just to be sure, and then placed the order. Bit tedious but easy enough to do, and loved the fact that I could order some units to bespoke depths at very little extra cost. We only ordered kitchen units from diy as we were sourcing our worktops and appliances elsewhere.
Kitchen arrived when promised, and was everything we were hoping it would be. Our fitter was very happy with it, including the fact that some units were dry assembled to make fitting them easier. Lots of things about diy-kitchens that are good, but two in particular are the fact that the carcases can be same colour as the doors so that you don't need end panels, and that you can order cabinets to be made to a bespoke depth at very little extra cost. We did this with the wall microwave unit and the cabinet next to it so that our Ikea microwave would fit.
