Customer reviews - Altino Alabaster
We have done our kitchen ourselves in Feb-March 2014. This was our first family kitchen and we were rather worried if we can complete it without a professional installer.
However prices of leading brands providing reasonable quality such as Magnet, Wren, etc. were out of our range. At the same time we had bad experience with quality and services provided by ?low range? supplies like B&Q, Wickes and Ikea. We have read many positive comments about DIY Kitchens in various Internet sites and decided to have a go.
This was the right choice for us. We have managed to assemble our kitchen (style: Altino Alabaster, see photos) without any problems. We still have a few minor works to complete (e.g. tiling). We are very happy with the quality and the final look of our new kitchen.
From the very beginning we were quite impressed with the DIY Kitchens service and quality. Showrooms are great and staff there are very helpful.
We were pleasantly suppressed by DIY Kitchens which makes selection of units with all the required options like: proper panels, shelves, legs, etc. very easy and straightforward. This is the best ?kitchen? web-site I have seen yet.
Communications (telephone and e-mail) were very easy and quick. The quality of units and materials, as far as we can judge, is very high, similar to the best we have seen in Magnet, Wren, etc. Fitting instructions were straightforward. Quality of fittings and fixtures is very high ? proper solid metal and good robust plastic. We still have had a few questions and forgot to order some minor items like extra legs and panels, but it was easy to solve these problems over telephone and extra items had been delivered very fast.
Finally we have a few minor criticisms. Selection of end panels of the selected kitchen style (Altino Alabaster) was rather limited so I had to cut some of them out of larger size panels myself (jigsaw can do it nicely, but making straight line cuts was not easy for an inexperienced DIYer like myself). Selection of lightning and worktop styles/suppliers could be wider. Finally, selecting handles lengths was not easy it would be good to have a recommended length displayed in a picture for every unit/door.
We bought worktops and lightning elsewhere just to add some artistic touches. Externally bought worktops and lightning fitted very well with the DIY Kitchens units.
We ordered the Altino Alabaster finish with a walnut laminate worktop, and are thrilled with our new kitchen. Our joiner said the quality of the cabinets was fantastic and he had a relatively easy time fitting them since they all came ready built with doors hung. We opted for Le Mans shelving in the corner base units which everyone has been very impressed with - they are worth every penny and hold plenty!
We had a delivery issue as some key items were missing from our order, however the customer service was amazing and everything was resolved immediately.

I discovered DIY Kitchens when searching on line and we love our new kitchen, it has totally transformed the room and we admire it on a daily basis. Units are solid and well-built and the doors look really classy and are very easy to keep clean.
We designed and installed the kitchen ourselves and although daunting and challenging we enjoyed the experience. We found the paper cut-out plan of the units from them very useful and it enabled us to make best use of the space that we had available.
I would recommend however that if you do use this that you order a hard copy from DIY kitchens as when we printed some additional pages from the internet our printer printed them a slightly different size which could cause problems if space is tight.
The online information and tutorials were also very helpful. When we submitted our plan, DIY kitchens kindly came back with a few suggested mods which we took on board.
We had a few post-delivery issues which were sorted out in a very efficient and professional manner.
We would definitely recommend DIY kitchens to our friends and family.?
Altino alabaster, with silestone Kensho Quartz tops. The kitchen fitter whom I have known a long time was dubious when I told him I had ordered it online. After fitting he said he was very impressed and said it was one of the best quality kitchens he had fitted. Praise indeed! And I agree.
We were looking to modernise and upgrade our kitchen and spent a huge amount of time visiting local kitchen showrooms in Northumberland, and whilst I found a kitchen that I loved, the prices we were being quoted were eye watering to say the least.
Thankfully whilst searching the kitchen name on the internet I stumbled upon the DIY Kitchen web page. I was quickly able to calculate how much it would cost to buy the same units direct and the cost saving was substantial.
Buying goods via the internet is often a leap of faith and before committing to buying units for my kitchen and utility room I made the trip down to your showroom. What a huge revelation as the showroom was well stocked with a huge range of kitchens, there was no pushy salesmen following me around, and I was able to see each type and style of unit and begin to formulate my design.
The ordering process was easy and I was kept fully informed of the delivery date, which was as promised. Before delivery, we had some additional questions and the help desk staff gave some excellent advice and even arranged quick delivery of a piece that I had forgotten to order. All of the units and doors were delivered well wrapped and getting time to inspect was a bonus than trying to check them all during delivery.
The beauty of the ready made units and doors meant that we were able to install all of the units ourselves, and only needed to employ a joiner for the finer details (plinth, pelmets and infill at the top of the units). Even hanging the wall units was relatively simple and getting everything level with the adjustment screws didnít take long.
The money that we saved by doing it ourselves gave us additional money to spend on granite work tops and upgrading our kitchen appliances (including a fabulous new wine fridge!). Whilst I am no expert on kitchen worktops, the one chosen is sold in my favourite department store, and again a google search taught me that they are very high spec (but at a low price) so another great result.
I love everything about my new kitchen. All of the units are solid and well made, the gloss doors are free from blemishes and the soft close doors work really well, even my joiner was impressed with the quality and he has very high standards.
Although it may be some time before I need to remodel my kitchen again, I sincerely hope to be a repeat customer at some point as I have been able to afford my dream kitchen at a realistic price.
It took a long time but we've finally finished the kitchen. We're really pleased with the units and it's turned out better than we expected. We even had enough materials to form a matching cupboard around the boiler with the washing machine below. Thanks very much for all your help.
As a building control officer I'm regularly visiting building projects and I always recommend DIY kitchens. Thanks very much for your patience and help with all our queries leading up to our order.
I found diy-kitchens online and after getting prices from other high street shops (Howdens, Wickes and Wren) there was no price comparison! I was a bit worried about buying from an online company. I ordered the door samples and I was happy with the quality, all the reviews were very positive so I decided to go ahead with my order. It took about three weeks for the kitchen to arrive, the delivery drivers where great, they rang me in the morning to tell me when they where due to arrive, they actually turned up 10 mins early in the end!
I quickly unwrapped the kitchen, it was lovely! The quality was amazing, much better than I have seen in any shops on my search. Fitting was a pleasure, my dad who has fitted plenty of kitchens in his time was very surprised at the quality and ease! (He is definitely converted from a Howdens man!)
It must have been in at least six months since the kitchen was installed and still looks as good as it did the day it arrived, and with a little Jack Russell jumping up at the doors it hasn't even got a scratch!
Very pleased happy customer and I recommend to anyone that will listen!
This is our refurbished kitchen - using the Altino Albaster range. We are very pleased with the quality and finish.
